In the 1960s, the Green Berets worked with the Vietnamese tribes of Montagnards (called “Yards” for short) to help defend southern villages from attacking bands of Viet Cong (VC). During this time, Green Berets caught and ate snakes for survival, to which President Kennedy gave them the moniker “snake eaters.”

In honor of the ‘Yards” and the intrepid snake eaters of the United States Army Special Forces, we present the new Snake Eater MOD 2. Inspired by the colors of the Montagnard tribes and the daring missions they all carried out together fighting the VC and the NVA. The Snake Eater MOD2 features the same OTB features that can withstand any environment and is the perfect shoe to celebrate the heritage and valor of the Green Berets.

I bought the Mod-1 a couple oyears ago and they are great. The Mod-2 I just bought are not very good. The inserts are rock hard and slippery. The sole feels more like plastic rather than rubber and is not verry grippy. Over all it looks like the Mod-2 is made with cheaper materials. Even the laces are thinner than the old ones. I kept the mod-2 because I like the look but will probably not buy again.

I really wanted to love Woobies. I love the idea. I wanted to support an American company that is veteran owned. However, these shoes are just not that good. I do love the style, and they are remarkably grippy, but they are simply not holding up. I am not an operator or even a skater. I drive a desk... The bootstraps ripped off after a couple weeks. Now, after a few months, the stitching is coming apart and the outsole is separating from the upper. If you are going to invoke military toughness, and charge $160 for a pair of canvas high tops, they need to be substantially more durable than this.

These are my go-to shoes. Love them. Almost everything about them. Had to subtract a star for the weak bootstraps. I cut those off after two weeks when they were starting to tear off. I would call that a minor flaw on an otherwise perfect design. Very comfortable, tough, stylish. They look good with just about everything, and they are remarkably stable and grippy. I will buy another pair. Would love to see more durable, functional bootstraps.

I don’t know what it is, but when I look at these online, they appear yellowish tan, but it’s actually light OD green. Other than that, I LOVE my black MOD 2’s and I’m fine with the color of the green ones. You guys make good stuff!

I ordered these shoes on May 26th and didn't receive them until June 10th. I reached out to customer service 2 times to get an update because I was leaving for vacation and wanted an update on the shipping date. I never heard back from them. The shoes didn't show up in time. When I got back from vacation I tried the shoes on and they were to tight on the sides, so I guess I needed the wides, although I don't wear wide in any other brand of shoe. I've reached out to customer service again to set up the exchange and still have not gotten a response. I did this on July 5th. and the 30 day return date would be the 10th. I bought these because I wanted to support veterans' but when your customer service is lacking it really makes me think I should spend my money somewhere else. I was going to exchange them for the wides, but at this point I think I will just get a refund because I have no faith that if I have another problem with the shoes they will just leave me hanging. It bums me out because I love the look of the shoes and buying American. I was unable to even find a phone number to contact them after they never responded to my emails to customer service. At this point I will probably have to pay for the return shipping myself so the 30 day return cutoff doesn't expire. Bummed out, do better Woobies. Customer service and response is key to any business.

Second pair of Woobies, first Mod 2. They are super comfortable right away. No break in needed. They are stylish enough to be noticed and complimented. They are comfortable enough to wear for 10 shifts walking on concrete all day. They are super comfy hiking and I like that they dry quickly. I wear them to all but formal occasions. Disappointed. The Snake Eater Mod-2’s arrived defective; the canvas was improperly sewn to the sole, & they were falling apart on Day 1. Woobies are not living up to the “bomb-proof” hype. These are not suitable for operations; they didn’t even survive unboxing. Woobies’ Customer Service was apologetic, & promptly authorized a warranty exchange; I appreciate that. However, the lack of transparency and poor quality is disappointing. As of APR 2023, THESE SHOES ARE NOT MADE IN THE USA; they are manufactured in SPAIN. Don’t let old YouTube videos touring the Texas manufacturing facility mislead you. The main Woobies e-commerce website currently fails to plainly & overtly articulate that the shoes are imported; an important fact. You have to follow Woobies on Instagram to know they are currently manufactured in Spain. Woobies should update their e-commerce site to explicitly state the current place of manufacture; it’s better to be forthright.

I love these shoes.this is the third pair I've bought in about a year. my first pair was the cement MOD-1. I wasn't sure how they would fit.they arrived and fit great.I wear a size 12 in converse Chuck Taylor's. Then, the Mod-2 hi top became available.I got'em. Same size. They are perfect. I wore them everywhere and doing EVERYTHING. They are very comfortable and super rugged. I found myself wearing them casually instead of shoes and have been told a number of times thet they look sharp. I decided to save these to use as casual footwear instead. So I ordered the snake eaters Mod-2 that were on sale and I now use them when I'm working or trail running or hiking or yardwork etc.they are very comfortable and so well made. That's it.
